Rehearsals Begin…
“Movies will make you famous; Television will make you rich; But theatre will make you good.”

We’re swapping the band room for the theatre in May 2025!
Skelmersdale Prize Band are pleased to be supporting Southport Little Theatre in their week long stage adaptation of 1996 British comedy-drama film, Brassed Off.
Featuring Brass Band classics such as Death or Glory, Florentine March and the unmistakable Flugel Horn solo, Concerto de Aranjuez, Brassed Off, highlights the trials and tribulations of the miners within Grimley Colliery Band and their battle with the pit closures in Thatchers Britain.
While the actors and band have been rehearsing seperately for a few weeks now, today was the first day the two have come together for some trial runs at some of the scenes. Earlier in the month, the band embraced the cast at an open band rehearsal at their Hutton Road headquarters, which enabled the cast to see the band in action for the first time, experiencing what it is like to be part of a real brass band. We’ve got some time still to go before opening night, but these early rehearsals sound promising for all involved.
