Happy New Year from Skelmersdale Prize Band

Happy New Year!

We had a fantastic 2024 with so many amazing memories made. From our concerts at St John Rigby College, Southport Botanical Gardens, Haigh Woodland Park and more, to our contests in Blackpool, Birmingham, Brighouse, and Cheltenham, to our many social events, the band had a fantastic year of music making.

We have started the year off with our annual awards, designed to acknowledge the achievements of the individual players and sections. The band votes on 3 awards, Players Player, Bandsperson, and The Gordon Hatton award (Most likely to make you smile), while the conductor, Ben, selects his own winners for Most Improved, Conductors Player and the most coveted of all prizes, Section of the Year.

Your 2024 Winners are as follows:

  • Players Player of the Year - Elizabeth Hemmingway

  • Bandsperson of the Year - Stevie Gee

  • The Gordon Hatton Award - John Dickinson

  • Most Improved Player - Ellen Galbraith

  • Conductors Player of the Year - James Ball

  • Section of the Year - Percussion
