Grateful for Rain
This week, the band said a fond farewell to our third cornet player, Rain. Here she is pictured with our Skelmersdale Prize Band Chairman Steven Gee.
Originally from the lovely coastal area of Brighton and Hove, Rain joined Skelmersdale Band in 2023 after moving to the North West to pursue her studies at Edge Hill University. From the very beginning, we were delighted that she chose us as her “home away from home” during her time here. We have also made her our ‘Honourary Lancastrian’!
Although her stay with us was relatively short, Rain made a lasting impact. She was part of the band during an exciting and successful period, contributing to our progression to the National First Section and performing in a sell-out production of Brassed Off at Southport Little Theatre—an experience we’ll all remember for years to come.
Rain quickly became a valued member of the band, not only for her musicianship but also for the laughter, warmth, and positivity she brought to rehearsals and performances alike. She also proved to be a true bands person and moved over to tenor horn to help!
Thank you, Rain, for the memories and the music. We sincerely wish you every success in your studies and chosen career. All the very best to you, your family, and your friends for the future.
And remember—you’ll always have a place here. Please come back and visit!
