North West Area 2026

A success to report! The Band are very proud to keep our position in the First Section after a musical performance of "Variations on 'Was Lebet'" written in 2017 by Andrew Wainright. This is a major work for brass band based on the German chorale, which translates as “O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness”. It is a beautiful piece of music made up of of five movements, full of effects known for its contrasting variations and rich musical textures.

Adjudicators John Doyle and Alan Widdop gave us some fantastic positive and constructive feedback and we can’t wait to build on our performance next year! Grateful thanks to John Binns who put us through our paces to play a peformance we could be proud of. We are also grateful to his very talented son and daughter Chris Binns and Stephanie Binns for their master classes and help in sectionals. Steph plays Flugel horn for the legendary Black Dyke Band, and Chris is trombone player having played at Black Dyke and Grimethorpe Bands, and successful Musical Director at Milnrow Band. Thank you the Binns family for your time and help!

It is no secret that the NorthWest Area First Section is one of the most difficult sections in the country. We were in the presence of some amazing bands. Special congratulations go out to the top three bands, Haydock, Tyldesley and Blackburn and Darwen Band who have secured a place in the National Finals at York Barican in September. Good Luck everyone!
